ABOUT

About Ashley Costello

For over 30 years, I have had the privilege of supporting children, young people, adults, and families through some of life's most difficult moments. Throughout my career, I have worked as a psychotherapist, counsellor, hypnotherapist, trainer, and speaker, always with one goal in mind: helping people discover that they are stronger and more capable than they realise. As founder of The Resilient Kid, I now work with families, schools, organisations, and communities to build resilience, confidence, emotional wellbeing, and mental fitness. Whether I am working one-to-one with a child, delivering training to teachers, speaking on stage, or supporting parents, my approach is practical, compassionate, and grounded in real-life experience. I believe resilience is one of the most important skills we can develop, and I am passionate about helping people of all ages create positive, lasting change.

MY STORY

Why I joined The Resilient Kid

My journey into psychology and therapy began as a teenager when my father experienced significant mental health challenges. Like many families facing difficulties, we were left with questions, confusion, and a desire to understand what had happened. Those experiences sparked a lifelong fascination with human behaviour, emotions, and mental wellbeing. I went on to study psychology before qualifying in counselling and psychotherapy, becoming one of the youngest counsellors in the UK at the time. Over the last three decades, I have worked in schools, private practice, charities, and international settings, supporting thousands of people through anxiety, loss, confidence issues, relationship difficulties, and life's many transitions. In 2019, I delivered a TEDx talk called Is Education Broken? which challenged how we prepare children for the future. That talk became the catalyst for creating The Resilient Kid. Today, my mission is bigger than therapy alone. I want to help children, families, schools, and communities develop the resilience skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. If I can help one child feel more confident, one parent feel less alone, or one family reconnect, then I know the work is worthwhile.

Hello and welcome. Taking the first step towards support can often feel like the hardest part, so I am delighted that you are here. Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family, my aim is to create a space where you feel safe, listened to, and understood. Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, but I firmly believe that with the right support, tools, and guidance, positive change is possible. Over the past 30 years, I have worked with thousands of people facing challenges such as anxiety, low confidence, emotional overwhelm, family difficulties, and life transitions. One thing I have learned is that nobody needs to face these struggles alone. My approach is practical, compassionate, and focused on helping you build on the strengths you already have. Together, we can explore challenges, develop strategies, and create a path forward that feels achievable and empowering. I look forward to supporting you on your journey.
