ABOUT

About Fiona Kennedy

I'm Fiona Kennedy, a qualified counsellor and a trauma-informed Resilient Kid and Resilient Teen Coach. I'm passionate about supporting children and young people who are struggling with anxiety, low confidence, overwhelming emotions, friendships and school-related difficulties. I understand that emotional challenges can look very different from one child to another. Some children express their feelings through anger or frustration, while others become withdrawn, anxious or reluctant to attend school. My approach is warm, person-centred and trauma-informed. I believe that every child and young person deserves to feel heard, understood and accepted for who they are. I also have experience supporting neurodivergent young people, including those with ADHD and autism, and recognise the importance of adapting support to meet individual needs. I provide one-to-one resilience coaching, small-group sessions, school-based programmes and wellbeing workshops across Cheadle Hulme, Stockport and South Manchester. My aim is to help young people understand their emotions, recognise their strengths and develop practical tools to build confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing.

MY STORY

Why I joined The Resilient Kid

Growing up, I was an incredibly shy child. I know what it's like to lack confidence, feel uncomfortable in social situations and struggle to put yourself forward. Through dance and stage school, I gradually began to find my confidence, and that experience has stayed with me throughout my life. My journey into counselling came from wanting to help others feel listened to, valued and understood. Through my work as a counsellor, I've supported children and young people facing a wide range of emotional challenges. I've seen how much of a difference it can make when someone has a safe space to talk, feels genuinely understood and begins to recognise their own strengths. Joining The Resilient Kid and later becoming a Resilient Teen Coach felt like a natural extension of the work I already loved doing. What I enjoy most is watching those small but meaningful changes. A child who starts believing in themselves, a teenager who begins to manage their anxiety or a young person who finally feels confident enough to express how they're feeling. For me, it's about helping young people develop skills they can carry with them throughout their lives.

A MESSAGE FROM ME

A message from Fiona Kennedy

If your child or teenager is struggling with anxiety, getting overwhelmed by their emotions, losing confidence or finding school difficult, I understand how worrying and exhausting that can feel for the whole family. Sometimes children and young people find it difficult to explain what's going on for them. They might become angry, withdrawn, anxious or simply tell you that everything is fine when you know something isn't quite right. I believe every young person deserves to feel heard, understood and supported without judgement. My sessions provide a safe and welcoming space where we can explore what's happening for them, understand their emotions and develop practical strategies to help them navigate everyday challenges. I work at each young person's pace, recognising that everyone is different and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you're a parent looking for support for your child or a school wanting to strengthen pupils' emotional wellbeing, I'd love to have a conversation about how I may be able to help. Sometimes that first conversation is the beginning of a really positive change.
